It’s a great time to review your safety measures for medicines, cleaning supplies, and other potentially dangerous items in your home. Store these items up high, out of your child’s reach, or locked in a childproof place. Parents should keep the number for the Poison Control hotline handy: 1-800-222-1222. Experts can give you immediate information about how to treat your child and what signs to watch for. They can tell you if you need to head to the emergency room or if you can take steps at home. For more information, request a copy of the VIRTUS article “What you need to know about poison” at lacatholics.org/did-you-know.
