Feb. 13-14: Tips to Handle Teen Dating

Most teenagers are eager to date, but parents may be less eager to reach that milestone. Preparing yourself — and your teenager — for smart, safe dating is key. As a family, set rules, and enforce them. Discuss who they can see, what activities are allowed or forbidden, how late they can stay out. Make sure your teenager is clear on how to handle himself or herself in tough situations, and that they have an “out” if they need one in you or another trusted adult. Honesty and specificity will make these conversations more impactful, and more likely to stick with your teen.
