As safe adults we have a responsibility to set healthy emotional boundaries with the children in our care, most importantly because we are helping to guide a child’s development. In no way does this mean that adult-child relationships must be cold or uncaring. By maintaining healthy emotional boundaries, we as adults act as role models for other adults and for children themselves. For example, there is a big difference between being friendly and being friends with a child.
