Our Faith is expressed and comes alive in personal relationships: sitting, praying and eating together. It lives in the sharing of our life experiences, in the light of the faith we have with and in each other.
How can you take that and move it onto Zoom? It's difficult, but not imporrsible, especially if we do it together!
We are meeting you where you are and what you can do to encounter God in your everyday life.
Each grade level will be gathering online once a month and on the other weeks, your family will come together and work with tangible resources. We will be using a backpack approach with materials for each grade level from Dynamic Catholic and St. Mary's Press. For year 2 Sacramental Preparation, Faith + Family Collective publisher is providing us great resources that come in a box for each part. In the box, there are teaching materials, tactile pieces that are familiar symbols that remind us of what our faith is about. As nuclear families, we can explore these themes together in the light of our stories, connecting between generations and then coming back together with the larger group in virtual meetings.
We offer comprehensive programs of faith formation sessions for children ages three through grade 8. We gather from 10:45 am until 12:00 pm most Sundays, following a typical school year calendar. In this time of COVID 19 we are gathering virtually once a month. In the meantime families will be gathering in their homes to complete lessons and have great conversations about God!
Our programs include:

FORMATION FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
We also offer special sessions, grade level family retreats, resources, and faith formation programs throughout the entire year designed to include parent participation to help strengthen the faith life of the whole family.
Through our program, we hope that families will come to a fuller and richer experience of the presence of God in their lives and grow in their mission of being Christ's disciples in our world.
Interested in Volunteering?
Please refer to our volunteer page with more information about how to get involved.
As part of our program, all grade levels participate in the VIRTUS® Empowering God's Children Program for Children as mandated by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. These sessions are designed to empower our children to safeguard themselves and others around them, and to learn to speak out to trusted adults when they are in need.
All volunteers who work with children and teens in any capacity at St. Monica are required by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to complete the VIRTUS Training session “Protecting God’s Children,” and be fingerprinted with a background check. They cannot enter a classroom as a primary catechist until this process is completed. This includes all volunteers and catechists in our Faith Formation Program and our Youth Ministry/Confirmation Program for teens. For more information, go to
