Monday, October 2, is World Habitat Day.  More than 30 years ago, the United Nations General Assembly took an important step in promoting the idea that everyone deserves a decent place to live by declaring that the first Monday in October would be World Habitat Day.

In the United States, on October 2, Habitat for Humanity asks everyone to join together to advocate for those in need of decent and affordable housing through their Cost of Home campaign.  Check out more info here, including a simple form to e-mail our Congress members and urge them to act now for housing.

Our Habitat Ministry at St. Monica’s is just getting started for the year and are looking for volunteers in all capacities.  Please check our website for more updates and e-mail Delis Alejandro at to get added to our mailing list for notifications about our upcoming activities or to volunteer.

This fall we plan to:

• Attend the dedication of the 8 homes at Isabel Villas that we helped build over the last year – more info to come!
• Schedule a ReStore volunteer day
• Recruit volunteers for help plan and staff a fundraiser tentatively scheduled for January 2024
