Coming to a new place can be intimidating. You may not know anybody, where to go once you're here, or even how to get here in the first place. We want to make it a little easier to find your way around and get connected by answering some of the questions that you may have before you come.

I’m not Catholic. Can I still worship at St. Monica?

Yes, All are welcome to worship with us at St. Monica. If you decide you’d like to convert to the Catholic faith, our RCIA program will help guide you through the process. Visit stmonica.net/rcia to learn more.

Is childcare available during Mass?

Beginning Sept. 10, 2023—we are bringing back babysitting at the Sunday, 9:30 a.m. Mass in the Simon Center. Children age two and up are welcome at childcare. There is a suggested donation of $10 per family.

What do I wear to church?

At St. Monica, you will find a variety of dress styles. Jesus welcomed people from all walks of life and in all manner of dress, and so do we! There are many people who dress up, and there are many who dress more casually.

Am I expected to give money if I come to Mass?

No. There is no charge to attend worship. If you choose to place an offering in the collection, we thank you for your generosity.

Can I receive Holy Communion if I’m not Catholic?

Everyone is welcome to come forward for a blessing. Only those who are Catholic may receive Holy Communion. To receive a blessing, come forward with your hands over your heart, and we would be honored to pray over you with God’s blessing. 

Which Mass should I attend?

In addition to daily Mass during the weekdays, we have several options available on both Saturday and Sunday. Each of our weekend Masses has a unique character and speaks to people with varying tastes in music, from very traditional to contemporary Christian. 

• Saturday Vigil 5:30 pm REFLECTIONS ENSEMBLE
  Contemplative/Traditional and Contemporary
  This Mass consists of a small ensemble with a mix of contemporary & traditional hymns, gregorian chant, Taizé, Praise & Worship, and acapella. Accompaniment is a grand piano/organ/keyboard with an occasional rhythm section.

• Sunday 7:30 am  FOUNDATIONS ENSEMBLE
  Contemplative/Traditional, Gospel, and Contemporary
  This Mass has great music from our liturgical tradition, both ancient and new -- chant to popular -- with piano/organ accompaniment.

• Sunday 9:30 am  GENERATIONS ENSEMBLE
  Family / Contemporary
  The 9:30 Liturgy is sometimes referred to as our “family” Mass. Families and people of all ages attend. A special Children’s Liturgy of the Word is offered at this Mass. Once a month, an intergenerational choir made up of adults and children seven and older leads music under the direction of Heather Catalena.

• Sunday 11:30 am HERITAGE ENSEMBLE
  Family / Traditional
  This Mass has a more traditional feel, with accompaniment equally on organ and piano. Music is selected from the vast repertoire of the Church’s musical heritage and spanning periods and styles from Early Music & Classical to current liturgical hymns and songs. Merrick Siebenaler directs this ensemble.

• Sunday 5:30 pm ELEVATIONS ENSEMBLE
  Young Adults / Contemporary-Modern
  This vibrant Mass is geared equally towards young adults and the young at heart! Known for its pop/rock and soulful gospel-style music, the choir and house band are led by musical director Jeffrey Bonilla. You'll want to arrive early for this popular evening Mass! Babysitting services are available in the Simon Center.
