Before beginning our week of mission and ministry, we took a day to slow down, observe, and open our hearts to the story of this land.

We started at the Sheldrick Elephant Nursery, where we encountered some of God’s most majestic and vulnerable creatures. These rescued elephants, orphaned but thriving, reminded us of the tenderness required to care for one another—and the beauty that comes from healing and trust. There was joy in every step, every trunk raised skyward, and a deep sense of connection to the natural world that speaks without words.
Later, we made our way to the Nairobi National Museum, a powerful space that weaves together the complex and resilient history of Kenya. We walked through exhibits on independence, ancient civilization, wildlife, and art—each one adding a layer of depth to our understanding of the people and place we are here to walk alongside.
As we look ahead to the days of ministry and encounter, we carry with us a spirit of curiosity and openness—a willingness to ask questions, to stay present, and to be shaped by every person, place, and story we meet.
