St. Monica Serves is a parish-wide day of service on Saturday, August 23, in honor of the Feast Day of our patroness, Saint Monica. Parishioners of all ages can select a service activity at a food pantry, shelter, or non-profit organization benefiting the vulnerable communities of Los Angeles.

St. Monica Serves 2025 Wrap-Up

On Saturday, August 23, the parish gathered together for St. Monica Serves—our annual day of service. 165 parishioners of all ages stepped into the community to serve the vulnerable and at-risk populations of Los Angeles at local food pantries, shelters, and nonprofit organizations including Harvest Home, Better Angels, YMCA, St. Robert's Center, St. Mark's Food Pantry, Westside Food Bank, and It's Bigger Than Us. Volunteers also assisted in preparing Saint Monica Prepatory for the start of the school year and joined our Green Team in picking up over 17lbs of trash from the beach to help keep our ocean clean. From building care packages for immigrant families and fire victims to serving hot meals to our unhoused neighbors, the day was filled with compassion, collaboration, and connection.

Thank you to our site leads who welcomed all our volunteers at the various service locations. Thanks to Deisy Torres, Daglys Rivas, Steven Reilly, Hillary McCarthy, Jessica Buenaventura, Tersa Cordeiro, Jillian Kinsey, Christine Tope, and our prep school President Erin Luby.

A big thank you to the chairs of St. Monica Serves, Jillian Kinsey and Brianna Rodrigues, who researched and chose  all the sites and recruited site leads for this great day.

We look forward to the summer of 2026!
