Dandora Travel Journal | June 19

This morning began with Mass alongside the students of St. James—a celebration full of spirit, song, and sincerity. To sit among these young people, to hear their songs, was a moving reminder that faith is a living, growing force in Dandora. Their presence brought energy; their voices brought harmony; and their faith deepened our own.

Following Mass, we gathered to hear project updates and progress reports from parish and community leaders. These moments gave shape and clarity to what we often only glimpse from afar. We heard about the realities of food distribution, education access, healthcare services, and infrastructure—all supported, in part, by our ongoing partnership. The work is steady, humble, and holy.

Later, we broke into small groups to reflect on how we might carry Dandora with us back to Los Angeles. What does it look like to remain involved? What can we share with our parish community? These conversations sparked passion, creativity, and a renewed sense of responsibility. This isn’t just a one-time experience—it’s a lifelong connection.

We also shared lunch with the Holy Cross Sisters—an opportunity not just to eat, but to enjoy laughter, questions, and stories across cultures. Their hospitality is unmatched.

Finally, we heard from Gaha Isabella, who offered an impactful overview of the programs supported through Tuendelee.org. Her clarity, conviction, and compassion gave us a window into how far-reaching and strategic this ministry truly is.

Today was about deepening our understanding—not just of the needs, but of the people. Through prayer, presentations, and personal sharing, we remembered: relationship is the real mission.
