Navigators Ministry at St. Monica

St. Monica can be an amazing place, filled with wonderful people and lots of opportunities! But it can also be overwhelming at times, and it can be hard to find what you're looking for in terms of connecting with others or volunteering, even if you've been in the parish for several years. It can make us feel stuck and wondering what God wants us to be doing.

Well, in 2024, we're fixing this! St. Monica has officially launched a new ministry – The Navigators!

Navigator Ministers are St. Monica parishioners who are trained to help other parishioners navigate through the process of discerning their spiritual gifts, and connecting them with ministries that could be a good fit. Navigators are friendly & warm individuals who have excellent listening skills, a desire to help other people flourish, and a willingness to learn about all the service opportunities that St. Monica offers. They are regularly supervised by St. Monica staff. In the beginning, this ministry’s activities will consist primarily of one-on-one consultations with parishioners in three ways: online, phone, or in-person.

Your conversation with one of our Navigators will focus on your favorite things—what you enjoy doing and who you like to work with, plus we'll make sure to find out what you don't like to do (so we don't match you with something you don't like). You'll also talk about how much or how little time you have to serve, and whether you'd like to develop your leadership skills or simply be a part of a team.

After your conversation, your Navigator will identify some possible ministry opportunities for you to explore, and then get you connected to those ministry leaders. A few weeks later, your Navigator will check in with you to see how things are going, and make any adjustments or new recommendations.
