Feb. 6-7: Teaching Children About Home Security

Teaching children about home security and safety tips is critical, but can be daunting for parents. Who wants to scare their child with thoughts of fire, break-ins, or other dangers? Remember to keep instructions simple and age-appropriate, with empowering roles for children in managing their own safety at home. A great place to start is by teaching your children how to dial 9-1-1. Be sure to show younger children how to access the security screen on a cell phone that allows them to call 911 without unlocking the phone.
