Adults who work with children are responsible for maintaining appropriate boundaries and relationships. This can include guiding children to appropriate physical interactions, like side hugs, or high fives and fist bumps. Adults are also responsible for keeping interactions professional — in every setting, a safe adult is supposed to be a friend, but not a peer. If necessary, remind children in your care that you are there to support and guide them as a leader.
