Children can suffer from short- and long-term consequences of growing up in a home with domestic violence. The State of California has laws in place to protect children against physical, verbal, and emotional violence done in any home. Any safe adult with a reasonable concern that a child is witnessing domestic violence or being harmed in his or her home, should report to Child Protective Services (CPS) or the appropriate authorities to have the situation investigated for the child’s safety.
