When it comes to schools and programs that serve children, it is critical to have a culture of safety that protects children from sexual abuse. Examine your child’s school or programs for evidence of this culture — look for values that emphasize child safety and decisions that put children at the center while allocating resources for safety. This can look like compliance with federal and state laws, professional ethics and standards, and a culture that encourages youth and families to get involved.
