Mar. 6-7: Helping Children Cope with Grief

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many children are grieving — they may have lost family members, they are cut off from their friends and their routines, and their lives have changed significantly. Parents can help children work through their strong emotions by acknowledging their feelings and encouraging children to talk about them. Talk with them honestly and simply, helping them to answer any questions they might have about why this is happening, or what will happen next. Often, showing children that they are loved unconditionally can help them handle strong feelings of loss and sadness.
