Doxing is publicly sharing someone’s private information, like home address, phone number, or social security number, as a form of punishment or revenge putting them at risk of hacking, identity fraud, or other violence. If someone is doxed, they may have their phone number swamped with spam or explicit texts and messages or if their address is shared, they may be unsafe in their own home. For more information about doxing, read the VIRTUS® article “Doxing: What is that?” at lacatholics.org/did-you-know/.
