As safe adults, we want to be available for the children in our lives to share their worries and fears with us. However, it is natural to be uncomfortable if a child discloses abuse or mistreatment. Asking necessary questions and getting pertinent information is critical to stopping abusive scenarios, although this can be difficult it is important to remember our critical role as safe adults. We are protectors of the children in our lives and we have the power to stop abuse from happening. This always needs to be the priority, over discomfort and uncertainty.
