Cultural values and norms may have an influence on abusive or dangerous situations for children. Some of the cultural challenges in recognizing abuse may include an unwillingness to see certain actions as abusive or a different understanding of appropriate touch and boundaries. Safe adults can reflect on their own cultural background, and what impact it has had on their understanding of appropriate and inappropriate behavior and actions.
