Human trafficking can happen anywhere and when we least expect it. Traffickers often focus on potential victims who are vulnerable, for example, if a child has an unstable or unsupportive home life. One way to take action is to eliminate vulnerabilities wherever possible. Another important aspect of cultivating a safe environment is to focus equally on children’s interactions online and in person. Many predators use online sites to target victims as well. Children should know how to interact safely and to look for red flags.
