We are so excited to journey with you and your children this next year. What a time we have had! Know that you have been in our prayers throughout this pandemic, and we thank those students and families that have stuck with us over zoom, as well as for our in-person activities! We are looking forward to seeing everyone back for the 2021-2022 program year.
We offer classes for Early Childhood (ages 3-5), Elementary grades, and Sacramental Preparation beginning in grade 1 – grade 12. Preparation for Baptism and First Eucharist is a two-year process for all children in first grade and up. The first year is foundational. Year two focuses specifically on the sacraments.
The Early Childhood program, First Eucharist Preparation Year 1 and Year 2, and Bridges will require the parents to participate in the classes twice a month, in a family-style learning process. We are family-based program; Mass attendance is an important component to the success of your children's faith formation.
We invite families to participate in our 9:30 a.m. Sunday Liturgy.
Sessions typically follow Sunday Mass from 10:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
As we enter back into in-person gatherings, we will be meeting twice a month in-person. Families will then work on content at home, creating a [email protected] experience.
Thank you so much and God Bless everyone - we hope you have a fun summer and we hope to see you at our Feast Day of Saint Monica events!
-Suzette Sorborger, Pastoral Associate & Director, Faith Formation
We offer comprehensive programs of faith formation sessions for children ages three through grade 8. We gather from 10:45 am until 12:00 pm most Sundays, following a typical school year calendar. In this time of COVID 19 we are gathering virtually once a month. In the meantime families will be gathering in their homes to complete lessons and have great conversations about God!
Our programs include:
If your child is 7 years or older and not yet baptized,

FORMATION FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
We also offer special sessions, grade level family retreats, resources, and faith formation programs throughout the entire year designed to include parent participation to help strengthen the faith life of the whole family.
Through our program, we hope that families will come to a fuller and richer experience of the presence of God in their lives and grow in their mission of being Christ's disciples in our world.
Interested in Volunteering?
Please refer to our volunteer page with more information about how to get involved.
As part of our program, all grade levels participate in the VIRTUS® Empowering God's Children Program for Children as mandated by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. These sessions are designed to empower our children to safeguard themselves and others around them, and to learn to speak out to trusted adults when they are in need.
All volunteers who work with children and teens in any capacity at St. Monica are required by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to complete the VIRTUS Training session “Protecting God’s Children,” and be fingerprinted with a background check. They cannot enter a classroom as a primary catechist until this process is completed. This includes all volunteers and catechists in our Faith Formation Program and our Youth Ministry/Confirmation Program for teens. For more information, go to
