General Information

At St. Monica, we welcome teens in grades 9–12 to join us for our two-year preparation process to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. At the same time, we strongly advocate that faith formation is a life-long process and doesn’t end when we receive the sacrament. We prepare our teens by giving them the tools they need to live their lives in faith, long after they receive the sacrament.

Please note: You must be baptized and have received First Communion (and provide a certificate for both) to be confirmed. If your child has not yet received First Communion, we can prepare him or her during the Confirmation process.

We will meet two Sundays per month, and our process includes presentations, service projects designed by teens, and social nights. Teens who are already confirmed are especially welcome to participate as peer leaders to help facilitate small-group discussions and activities.

Volunteering

Interested in Volunteering?

Please refer to our volunteer page with more information about how to get involved.

Safeguard the Children

As part of our program, all grade levels participate in the VIRTUS® Empowering God's Children Program for Children as mandated by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. These sessions are designed to empower our children to safeguard themselves and others around them, and to learn to speak out to trusted adults when they are in need.

All volunteers who work with children and teens in any capacity at St. Monica are required by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to complete the VIRTUS Training session, “Protecting God’s Children,” and be fingerprinted with a background check. They cannot enter a classroom as a primary leader or catechist until this process is completed.  This includes all volunteers and catechists in our Religious Education Program and our Confirmation program for teens. For more information, go to  www.stmonica.net/safety

Financial Assistance

Our program budget is based on an amount of $175 per teen. We understand that some families are unable to pay this amount all at once, and some are only able to afford a portion of this fee. We ask that you consider what you are able to commit to paying between now and May 2022 so that we can plan our budget.

NOTE: Only registered parishioners are eligible for financial assistance.

To apply for a payment plan and/or financial assistance, complete the application available on the registration page. Once we receive your form, we will contact you to set up a meeting to discuss your request as well as ways your time and talent may contribute to our program.
