February ‘Mardi Gras!’ Meet & Greet – Feb. 11

Ash Wednesday coincides with Valentine’s Day this year, so our February Meet & Greet is perfectly timed to celebrate Mardi Gras—St. Monica style! Join GLO for our February Meet & Greet, Sunday, Feb. 11, after the 5:30 p.m. Mass. Don’t miss out on the fun as we gather together, celebrate, and connect with other gay and lesbian people of faith in our St. Monica community. Come to the Auditorium for some great food, drink, and camaraderie— all for only $5.00! For more information, or to volunteer to assist, contact Bill Chapman at (626) 354-1455 or .

Los Angeles RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CONGRESS – March 16–18

The LA Religious Education Congress is the largest of its kind in the world! With the objective of offering education and spiritual formation, over 40,000 participants each year attend this event to participate in over 300 workshops on topics such as spirituality, music, personal development, and biblical studies.

And, there are workshops geared specifically to the LGBT Community. This year’s event will take place March 16–18. Here are four examples of workshops geared toward the LGBT Community— two of which are co-presented by our own former GLO-er, Arthur Fitzmaurice!

  • #2-10 - Transgender in Our Schools: One Bread, One Body;  Arthur Fitzmaurice and Fr. Bryan Massingale
  • #7-09 - Teaching Mercy: Accompanying LGBT Students; Arthur Fitzmaurice and Fr. Chris Ponnet
  • #5-18 - Building a Bridge: Bringing Together LGBT Catholics and the Church; Fr. James Martin
  • #6-03 - The People of God Living with HIV/AIDS; Fr. Chris Ponnet
