This weekend, we extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to the parishioners of Corpus Christi, who will be joining us at all Masses. In the spirit of our all are welcome hospitality, several pews will be reserved so they may feel at home—keep this in mind and help us ensure they have a comfortable place to worship. We are also blessed to have Bishop Matt Elsoff as the principal celebrant at the 9:30 a.m. Mass, with Msgr. Torgerson concelebrating.
On Thursday, Archbishop Gomez presided over a special Mass for all those affected by the recent fires, offering comfort and prayerful support. Many parishioners of St. Monica and Corpus Christi were present, alongside Msgr. Torgerson, Msgr. Liam Kidney of Corpus Christi, and Bishop Elsoff. After Mass, everyone spent time in fellowship, solidarity, and consolation—an inspiring display of the communion we share in Christ. During his reflection, Archbishop Gomez acknowledged the questions, anger, and fear that can arise from tragedy, while affirming that love remains the greatest and most enduring force. Msgr. Kidney echoed this message by recalling the words of Junípero Serra—siempre adelante—“always forward,” reminding us that our journey of faith calls us to keep trusting and moving ahead, regardless of adversity.
"Love is what is asked of us in this moment" -Archbishop Gomez

♥ This weekend we will have a special second collection at all Masses to assist our neighbors in the Corpus Christi parish community. Our solidarity with them reminds us that we are truly one family, united in faith and purpose. We share in their joys and stand alongside them in times of need because they are not merely our neighbors but our brothers and sisters. If you wish to make a contribution by check, please make it payable to St. Monica and be sure to include “Corpus Christi” on the memo line. Your generosity and prayers will strengthen our bonds and shine as a testament to the love and care that defines our community. You can also select "Corpus Christi Fire Relief" on our give page.
If you feel moved to extend financial support to those impacted by the fires, we invite you to visit stmonica.net/adlafire and make a donation through the official ADLA relief portal. During this season of hardship and uncertainty, our parish communities throughout the southland desperately need our support and prayers. By giving through ADLA, your contribution will go directly toward aiding our brothers and sisters as they rebuild, recover, and stand strong in the face of adversity. Your generosity not only provides tangible help but also stands as a powerful message of unity and hope in Christ’s love.
⚠ Finally, we urge everyone to be cautious of unofficial crowdfunding pages or any suspicious requests for donations that claim to be on behalf of the parish. If you come across such pages, please report them immediately to . We also want to remind you that St. Monica will NEVER ask for gift card numbers or codes via phone, email, or text. When in doubt, always call our parish office directly. With your vigilance, we can ensure that all efforts and gifts go directly to the people and communities who need them most.
