Our parish financial statement is now published here for the 2020–21 fiscal year, which ended June 30. It’s a reflection of your incredible generosity during this time of great struggle. When the pandemic shuttered our community, our lack of reserves could have been ruinous. With humility and gratitude, we can report a strong year of recovery and replenishment. This allows us to be protected from future hardship and return our focus to the support and service you’re so good at—caring for the communities near and far.
I’d like to thank our finance council (listed below), who offer their expertise and candor. Meeting quarterly, they support the Pastor in fulfilling his duty of being a good steward with parish resources, work to facilitate good governance within the parish, and help to ensure there is accountability to parishioners with respect to your gifts. I also want to acknowledge Michael Hampel, Director of Finance & Controller for both the parish and schools. Since joining St. Monica in January 2019, the positive impact in our organization, clarity, and accountability have been enormous. But mostly, I want to thank you: you have saved our community, and I am forever grateful. You are the example that we are in this together and doing our best to serve. It’s been the privilege of my life to serve as your pastor for these 34 years. Thank you—I love you!
